Trump: "Hemos movido muchas tropas a Panamá y ocupado áreas que teníamos"

En una conferencia de prensa aseveró que las zonas están bajo control.

El presidente de EE.UU., Donald Trump, itió este jueves que han trasladado "muchas tropas" a Panamá e inclusive "ocupado áreas" que tenían bajo su dominio en el pasado.

"Hemos movido muchas tropas a Panamá y hemos ocupado algunas áreas que teníamos. Ya no la teníamos, pero ahora sí", declaró en una conferencia de prensa.

Sentado junto al secretario de Defensa, Pete Hegseth, quien estuvo esta semana en Panamá, el republicano aseguró que ese territorio está bajo control.

"Anoche regresamos de Panamá. Estuvimos en el canal de Panamá [...] y firmamos un par de acuerdos históricos [...]. Estamos recuperando el canal. China ha tenido demasiada influencia", comentó Hegseth, por su parte.

Trump ha manifestado en reiteradas ocasiones que Washington debe hacerse nuevamente con el mando del canal de Panamá al considerar que se ha violentado el principio de neutralidad consagrado en los Tratados Torrijos-Carter con la participación de China.

Tanto las autoridades chinas como el mandatario de Panamá, José Raúl Mulino, han desmentido categóricamente esa versión. Asimismo, el jefe de Estado centroamericano ha recalcado que el canal está bajo soberanía panameña y continuará estándolo siempre.

El analista político Carlos Alberto Almeida considera como una "tendencia natural" el deseo de países latinoamericanos de cooperar con China u otros países y destaca que no se puede aceptar que EE.UU. dicte órdenes.
